Where Solitude and Focus Meet, Good Things Are Born: How I Built My New Website
Launching my new website, dagmaraaldridge.com, is both an exciting and nerve-wracking milestone, but I am super happy to share with you all the fruits of my labor. This project was born out of a solo trip I took to Wales, so I could focus entirely on this daunting task. As someone who's never built a website before, it was a steep learning curve, but I’ve always believed that with focus and dedication, we can learn anything.
The Power of Solitude
I enjoy my own company, and I seek out solitude regularly to help my nervous system reset and to reconnect with what truly matters. For me, solitude is quite different from loneliness. It is a choiceful state that I find empowering. It’s a quiet state which enables me to hear the smallest of whispers from my body-mind. It’s the easiest way for me to get tuned into my body-knowing and intuition.
Focus and Distractions
Despite the popular belief, I disagree that focus is something we need to acquire or learn; focus is innate within us all. However, in our modern world filled with distractions, focus can be hard to access. That’s why solitude is such a helpful state to access our focus and tackle the things that matter.
In the six days I spent away, this beautiful site was born. I’m truly proud of it, and my hope is that it becomes a hub for connecting with startup leaders and executives. Together, we can explore innovative solutions to complex problems that currently lack answers. This site is dedicated to changing the leadership paradigm to be more fit for today's world—more embodied and therefore more empathetic. It's about inspiring a new generation of leaders and aiming to double our impact on the world.
I’d love for you all to visit the site and share your thoughts. While it’s a work in progress, like everything in life, it’s a milestone moment for me, marking the beginning of a new journey. After all, to start anything, you need to take the first step.
Tips for Getting Started
If you have a big or important project you’ve been meaning to start, I encourage you to:
Retreat for a period of solitude: Find a place where you can focus without distractions.
Choose a beautiful location: Let the environment inspire and nourish you.
Take breaks to do things you love: Refill your batteries by engaging in activities that rejuvenate you.
Practice breathing exercises: Consider using breathing techniques to balance your thinking and spark creativity.
Get feedback from trusted people: Once you’re done, seek feedback from those whose opinions you value.
Gratitude and Acknowledgements
Behind every entrepreneur, there is a bunch of trustworthy people. So I want to thank my wonderful bunch, who not only took the time to review my website but also provided valuable feedback and encouragement. Thank you Alasdair, Chelsea, Daria, David, Kacper, Paul and Vicky. A special thanks to Natalie, who not only shared her wisdom but also worked her back-end wizardry to improve the site's SEO.
However, until the google crawler gets its act together, please do visit my site directly, dagmaraaldridge.com (link in comments); and book a free consultation if you, or your startup, are looking for a coach or if you are curious to learn how having a coach can be beneficial to you and your business. Also, feel free to share this post and my website with anyone who might benefit from my support.
Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey with me!
With love and gratitude to you all,
Dag
P.S. Elin, it's not quite dag.com, but it's the next best thing I could come up with. Thanks for keeping me accountable when we spoke.
